The Father's Plans for the Future

“I can't wait for what will come”

“It kinda terrifies me of what is next”

“Day by day going with the flow...no worry in sight”

From birth, we are always told what we would like to be, what would you like to do. It is shoved down our throats. We are taught to always have a plan in sight. But sometimes, we plan with no plan. What is meant by that is we want things for our life without help and our answers are “I just want it.'' But why? Is it meant for you? Is it because others have it? All these questions start to arise. And sometimes we can still have a plan and be terrified of the unknown. Yet, again the Lord is still there with the help to guide, the ears to listen and His being to ask when troubled.

We will look at two similar verses from two different books.

“I say this because I know the plans that I have for you.” This message is from the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future.”

- Jeremiah 29:11

And

Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way.”

- Proverbs 3:5-6

What we can take away from these verses is pretty straightforward. The Bible is filled with stories that make us ask ourselves if the people ever worried about what was next. The people of Israel walked around for 40 years, the handicap was paralyzed for 38 years, the lady with the blood was suffering for 12 years. Yes, to some degree these are intense but nonetheless the underlying story shows that they still had the hope of tomorrow regardless of their situation and circumstances.

Take the time this week to reflect on things that may worry you. Remember that nothing is greater than our Lord and his words. Proverbs 16:3-4 Turn to the Lord for help in everything you do, and you will be successful. The Lord has a plan for everything. In his plan, the wicked will be destroyed.”
