Beauty

“You are so beautiful”

“I just love the way…”

“Beauty hurts…”

We’ve all heard these words in our daily life but as we are taught in school, words and sentences have multiple meanings. When we say beauty, is it meant to be said about our external looks? Most of the time that’s how we interpret it.  Do we ever think maybe beauty isn't our amazing highlight,  our new Jordans, new blouse or new pursue. Maybe the beauty we must start interpreting is our mind, our soul and our heart. To say the least the Lord and even the world mentions how outside beauty does not last.

It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from inside you—the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. That beauty will never disappear. It is worth very much to God.

- 1 Peter 3:3-4

Bringing it back to Genesis 1:27, “So God created humans in his own image. He created them to be like himself. He created them male and female. Pretty straightforward that beauty encompasses our whole being and not just a section. Sometimes we get side tracked because those earrings, those Nike 90 or that DG belt makes the individual wearing it beautiful or handsome. Don't get blindsided.

“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Eliab is tall and handsome, but don’t judge by things like that. God doesn’t look at what people see. People judge by what is on the outside, but the Lord looks at the heart. Eliab is not the right man.

- 1 Samuel 16:7

Take the time to reflect on your inner beauty and ways to strengthen it back to the way the Lord created you. The same way we make time, save money and grind hard for the new trends, we must take that same energy and turn it over to our heart, our mind and our soul. Without inner beauty, everything else is just a bonus waiting to be added to worth.
