Saved from Slavery

Many people talk about the fact that Christ saved them. It’s one of the main things that believers say all the time. However, what stands as an interesting fact is that many don’t really say what we are saved from. Yes, it is simple to say “sin”, but it goes deeper than that.

The entirety can be examined through the lens of the following verse - which is also our verse for the week:

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery

- Galatians 5:1

Sin is an easy answer to give us what we are saved from, but it’s the question of what sin associates you to. Someone who sins and who transgresses God’s laws and commandments are associated with the enemy. It’s the simple truth. Those who follow the Lord, Yahweh, in his precepts and concepts and love Him have found eternal life in Yeshua.

When He died for your sins, as well as mine, He opened the access for us all to be able to be with Yahweh on a more personal level. He ripped the shroud of the temple, allowing for the most holy of holy places in the Temple to be accessible. This is representative of what Christ has done for us. He is the way to that Holy place of communion with the Lord. In fact, it’s by accepting Him and what He did for you and accepting His love and help that we are able to live freely, out of the shackles of slavery that the enemy had for us. We are saved from sin, but mainly of the slavery of the enemy.

Associated Bible Verses: Corinthians 3:17, Isaiah 61:1, 1 Peter 2:16

Think About It: What sin has been holding me back from clinging onto Christ? Where in my life do I fall? How has Christ saved me from slavery?

Prayer: This week, focus on the Lord. Focus on the fact that He has saved you from sin and from the clutches of the enemy and slavery. Pray for those who are still in bondage and who still need to hear the Word of God. Praise Him for what He has done in your life and what He will do for others as well.
