Turning to God

A theme that I’ve always found particularly fascinating is the theme of turning to Yahweh. What does that mean? How does one find it within themselves to go towards an all-powerful creator and admit that they are sinful by nature and want to change? The idea always made perplexed

I think that the verse this week, Isaiah 45:22, was very helpful.

"Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other.

- Isaiah 45:22

That verse made me understand. Allow me to contextualize it.

I knew a guy who crashed his father’s car. When I say crashed, I mean this car was out of commission. There was no repairing his car. Afterwards, I find myself conversing with him, and he told me something interesting. The first thought he had was to talk to his dad. Apologize, do right by him. It’s the same way we should be looking at our relationship with Yahweh.

It’s easy to mess up and do wrong: it’s harder to ask for forgiveness and repent. To change your past ways so that you are able to please Yahweh should be some of our main goals in life, because sin cannot approach the Lord. But this doesn’t just mean turning to Him when things go bad: we should turn to Him at all times.

Associated bible verses: Micah 7:7, 2 Chronicles 20:12, Psalms 65:5

Think about it: What times in your life did you find yourself turning to Yahweh? Do you find yourself turning more to people or to Yahweh? What does it mean to you when someone says ‘turning to God’?

Prayer: This week, pray about turning to God. Ask Him yo make your heart turn to Him at all times. Pray so that the Lord may bless you with the wisdom to know to turn to Him.
