The Mediator

I hope that you have never been in a situation that required you to go to court. If you have, then you will understand that analogy. If you haven’t, but have watched television shows and movies about lawyers and the law, you will understand.

You have stolen something. You have lied. Frankly put, you broke the law. The police officers have arrested you and brought you to the Judge. You see your family behind you, rooting for your release and safe return home. To your side, you see the prosecutor: the enemy.

Welcome to the verse for this week, coming to you from the book of Timothy, that reads:

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.

- 1 Timothy 2:5 - 6

In this untimely situation, the enemy has used the Bible - the book that you read religiously - against you. You have sinned and transgressed God’s law, making you more than eligible for the punishment of death. Do you cower? Do you have fear in your heart? Or do you have faith?

You know your lawyer is the mediator between the Judge - YHWH - and humanity. He talks briefly to Him, telling Him that you are covered by Him as you follow your law and you have repented. The Judge looks to you and knows that this is true. He sets you free. As you walk away, your lawyer walks over to you and tells you “Go and sin no more”.

This is your life, everyday that you repent.

Associated bible verse: Isaiah 33:22, Galatians 3:20, Hebrews 12:24

Think About It: What did you think about the analogy? Do you think that this is a proper representation of your life? What do you do to heed to the command of Yeshua, your lawyer, to not sin anymore?

Prayer: Pray this week to thank your mediator and advocate, for every time that He has saved you from your own sin. Praise His holy name. Pray to the Father so that you will not sin anymore.
