Suicide

Warning: Mature Subject Matter

“I can’t take it anymore”

“Just maybe if…”

“There’s nothing left here for me anyway”

Continuing with our awareness on mental health and how it impact our life or those close to us, we take today to touch upon suicide something that has also been around. Suicide can be very taboo for some, leading to the lack of knowing what to say or how to react. One can’t set aside the fact that such an act happened. Nonetheless, we must be aware of how our words are said. An important aspect is to remember the Lord’s words. Even when you feel like everything is falling apart, He has not abandoned you. Maybe it was meant to be because the foundation you once built wasn't enough. Therefore He has to rebuild it with you.

“I say this because I know the plans that I have for you.” This message is from the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future.

- Jeremiah 29:11”

We talked about foundation a while back and spoke about how we must be aware of what we are feeding ourselves to produce good fruits. The same here as well. We must be able to identify the roots and trigger because nothing happens out of nowhere. For example, the rain the Lord made happen in Genesis. Noah knew and even told people, they just didn't listen until it was too late.

“In the same way, my words leave my mouth, and they don’t come back without results. My words make the things happen that I want to happen. They succeed in doing what I send them to do.

- Isaiah 55:11”

Identifying the origin will always help in seeking and asking for the proper guidance.

Continue to take time meditating during the week to identify the roots. Writing them is a good way to physically see them. Even if you feel like nobody is in your corner and that you are fighting in a boxing ring with no support nor fans, you are not alone. The Lord is there for you and has not forgotten you. You may not feel it but he is present, sometimes you just get in tune with yourself and invite him to one of your meditation sessions. His time slots are always open.“Give your worries to the Lord, and he will care for you. He will never let those who are good be defeated. Psalms 55:22”.

If you or anyone you know is battling with suicide, know that wherever there’s a shadow, there is light. That light are people willing to listen and help. You are bigger than the thief stealing your happiness. “A thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But I came to give life—life that is full and good. John 10:10”.

N.B. Don't be ashamed or afraid to ask someone you trust to pray for you or discuss your feelings. There are resources for speaking with someone who can understand you. Write to us at vvcmcontact@gmail.com to request a prayer from a church member.
