Depression

“Why is nothing aligning with anything anymore”

“You wanna hangout today… not today”

“I’m so over it”

Last month, mental health was introduced. We discussed that it encompasses many different layers. Today, we bring awareness to depression. Whether one wants to believe this is real or not, we must remember that one individual reality is not the same as another one. We may all live in this society, see the same thing, experience similar situations but at the end of day every experience is different to every individual. Now what happens when you have asked the Lord for help, guidance, intelligence, comprehension and everything in the book but still nothing? So be humble under God’s powerful hand. Then he will lift you up when the right time comes. Give all your worries to him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7” The answers lie in whether you’ve been true to yourself and Lord as well as asking correctly.

If we look back a few months, we spoke about facing the future and sometimes we plan to plan without making an actual plan. What exactly does that mean? It means we want things others may have and want it for ourselves without thinking whether or not it will do us any good. Therefore, this pressure starts to take over and we self-doubt or question everything we are doing. It is always better to do it right than to rush goodness to make it right. “that God will strengthen you with his own great power so that you will be patient and not give up when troubles come. Then you will be happy Colossians 1:11”

This week, meditate on your life, your plan and your project you have for yourself. Really evaluate them and ask yourself is the Lord at the center or core of all of it? Am I planning without an actual plan? What are the triggers I am ignoring? Write them down and reflect. Pray for peace and understanding to no longer have that list take over your mind, body and soul.

I leave you peace. It is my own peace I give you. I give you peace in a different way than the world does. So don’t be troubled. Don’t be afraid.

- John 14:27 ERV

If you or anyone you know is battling with depression or this unknown feeling, set your worries aside because you are bigger than these worries. Plus they are only as powerful as you give them. Mediate Philippians 4:6-7 and Deuteronomy 31:8 to strengthen you as you pray.
