True Wisdom

What is true wisdom? The dictionary defines it as being “the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.” Speaking to people who have acquired wisdom has presented me with the fact that wisdom is the ability to think in order to solve, based on knowledge, experience and facts. The only person that can give true wisdom is the Lord Himself, Yahweh.

This week, we dive into the book of 1 Corinthians 3:18 in order to get our verse of the week. It  states:

Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

- 1 Corinthians 3:18

There is a lot to dissect in this small passage. I will be brief in my summary. As explained earlier, true wisdom can only come from Yahweh. That wisdom can be translated into any language and situation. This is a reality because the Lord is all seeing, all-knowing and all powerful. Why we are fools to believe that we are wise is because we only have our one perspective on situations and at the most, glimpses of other people's realities. With human wisdom alone, we fail.

There is wisdom in the Word of God. In it, there is the solution to all things and all situations. We should be willing to ask for God’s wisdom in all situations, so that we may follow His way and come out alright. The wisdom of Yahweh has no equal, for He has no equal.

Associated Bible verses: Isaiah 5:21, Galatians 6:3, Proverbs 3:5

Think About It: When have I listened more to my own wisdom than the Lord’s wisdom? Have I fallen to the trap of my own pride by following my wisdom? What wisdom can I acquire from the Word of God today so that I can apply it in my life?

Prayer: Pray to the Lord this week so that you may acquire His wisdom. Present yourself to Him so that you may listen to Him. Make Him your leader and your counsel in every decision that you take in life.
