The Mediator

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. (1 Timothy 2:5 - 6)

download (6).jpg

I hope that you have never been in a situation that required you to go to court. If you have, then you will understand that analogy. If you haven’t, but have watched television shows and movies about lawyers and the law, you will understand.

You have stolen something. You have lied. Frankly put, you broke the law. The police officers have arrested you and brought you to the Judge. You see your family behind you, rooting for your release and safe return home. To your side, you see the prosecutor: the enemy.

Welcome to the verse for this week, coming to you from the book of Timothy, that reads:

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.

- 1 Timothy 2:5 - 6

In this untimely situation, the enemy has used the Bible - the book that you read religiously - against you. You have sinned and transgressed God’s law, making you more than eligible for the punishment of death. Do you cower? Do you have fear in your heart? Or do you have faith?

You know your lawyer is the mediator between the Judge - YHWH - and humanity. He talks briefly to Him, telling Him that you are covered by Him as you follow your law and you have repented. The Judge looks to you and knows that this is true. He sets you free. As you walk away, your lawyer walks over to you and tells you “Go and sin no more”.

This is your life, everyday that you repent.

Associated bible verse: Isaiah 33:22, Galatians 3:20, Hebrews 12:24

Think About It: What did you think about the analogy? Do you think that this is a proper representation of your life? What do you do to heed to the command of Yeshua, your lawyer, to not sin anymore?

Prayer: Pray this week to thank your mediator and advocate, for every time that He has saved you from your own sin. Praise His holy name. Pray to the Father so that you will not sin anymore.

In Our Midst

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. (Zepheniah 3:17)

Within the sanctuaries that serve Him faithfully and properly, or even when two or three are united to serve His holy name: He is there. The Creator of Heaven and Earth is often described as being omnipresent, a quick term that means “always there”. His presence is everywhere where He is wanted and that is wonderful.

I want you all to join me in the reading of this week, as we learn more about this wonderful God, YHWH, in the book of Zepheniah:

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

- Zepheniah 3:17

Is it not wonderful that that is the God that we serve? This is an all powerful King who is indescribable, but who will still save us. Even though we sin and aren’t perfect. He allows us to repent and to try to do better, which is always possible. This is the grace that He has given us as His children.

And He is always there.

In those moments of darkness, where you feel as if there is no one to listen and be there for you. He is there. When it feels as if the world is crumbling around you. He is there. When you feel alone. You aren’t alone, because YHWH is there, as He is here in our midst right now. Showing us love by giving us life and allowing us to live the life that we live with Him.

Associated Bible Verse: Psalm 147:11, Hebrews 7:25, Isaiah 12:2

Think About It: Do you ever take the time to acknowledge the greatness of the Father, YHWH? Does it ever occur to you that He is right there, with you, and that you are loved by Him when you follow His commandments?

Prayer: This week, pray so that you are able to praise and adore Him in everything that you do. Present yourself to Him so that He may show you what He wants to show you and tell you what you must see.

Walk the Walk

Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. (1 John 2:6)

Some idioms in this world make me laugh. One of them being the following: “walking the walk, talk the talk.” In short, it means that if you are able to talk, you have to be able to back it up. I like it because it keeps people humble. In the spiritual sense, it works too.

It’s in that idea that I want to lead you to the verse of the week, 1 John 2:6.

Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

- 1 John 2:6

My best friend and I both watch basketball regularly and talk about it whenever we can. We call ourselves fans. We do more than just talk about it: we play the game and keep ourselves entertained with it. It’s one of the ways that we walk together through life.

It’s similar with Christ.

Abiding in Him means you have to be able to walk the walk. You have to live like Christ lived to be able to say that you walk with him. You talk about the Bible, but you live it out as well. You can’t say that you are associated with the Son of Man and aren’t similar to Him in any way. Christ didn’t sin, which means you shouldn’t either. This verse doesn’t ask you to follow what people tell you to follow, but to follow the Messiah in the way that He lived His life, through Him, so that you may live eternal life.

Associated Bible Verses: 1 Peter 2:11, Psalm 85:13, John 15:4 - 6

Think About It: How is your walk with the Father? Do you walk the walk and talk the talk? Do you think that people know that you are associated with Christ and His Father by the way that you live your life? Do you follow Him in spirit and in truth?

Prayer: If you feel as if you have lost your way and that you need to connect to the Father more, I pray that this happens for you. This week, pray so that you may truly walk like Him; give Him the time time and the opportunity to speak to you so that you can follow His instructions.

The Light

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:5)

There are always these moments that seem to trouble us more than they ever should. They bring us down and enable themselves to trap us in their grasp. I can say that I’ve known that darkness from first hand experience. For me to tell you about it is to know that I understand that there is always light.

This week’s verse, that comes from the Gospel according to John, states:

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

- John 1:5

That light is the ever present light of the Father and of His son Yeshua. They are the light of our lives. I say that the sun seemingly copies what they do: it gives us warmth, light and life through its sheer presence. It is bigger than anything that we can imagine them to be and so much more powerful than we can ever truly understand.

That darkness in our lives? What would that be? That’s sickness, death, sin and decay. It is all of the things that set themselves as barriers between you living the life that the Father has set out for you. It is the enemy that is attempting to take a hold of you. It is an enemy that cannot prosper if you have the Light of the Father within you.

Therefore, I implore you to head the commands of the Father and to live in the way that He wants you to - resist the enemy - so that he will flee from you and you can glorify the Father.

Associated Bible Verses: John 3:19 - 20, Job 24:13 - 17, 1 Corinthians 2:14

Think About It: Where in your life do you allow the Light of the Father to shine? What instances of your life do you not allow Him to shine? How can you remedy that situation? Is there a specific case in which you can glorify the Father for shining His light upon your situation?

Prayer: I pray this week so that the Father shines His light upon your face and gives you His strength. May the enemy not find himself within you, for you are redeemed and belong to the Father.

Weakness

He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. (Isaiah 40:29)

This is for you: the people who feel as if the weight of the world is on your shoulders. Responsibilities abound and it seems as if there is never enough time or that you just aren’t good enough to accomplish it all. I’ve been there and I understand the way that you feel. I empathize with you.

Today, I present to you the verse of this week, which can be found in the book of Isaiah. It is written:

He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

- Isaiah 40:29

The strength of the Father far exceeds anything that any human can fathom. Even if we all came together on this planet to move something, we would not even be a singular iota of the strength of the Father. He exceeds us all and that is perfectly okay.

To receive His strength and rest, you have to begin by accepting that He is the Father and the strength that you need. Acknowledge your own weakness. It’s not bad. Humble yourself completely and accept that His way of life is what you need. We all need Him, for He is our creator and the one who provides for us all. There is no one who can avoid the thought of the Father, and that is because He gives us strength.

Associated Bible verses: Philipians 4:13, Matthew 11:28 - 30, Psalm 28:7 - 8

Think About It: What times in your life do you depend more on your own strength, whether that be physical or mental? Have you reached your breaking point before? What did you do in that situation; who did you turn to?

Prayer: This week, I pray that the Father, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, presents Himself to you again. May He give you His strength and power so that all of the glory will go back to Him, for He deserves it all.

Carnal and Spiritual

For to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6)

download.png

The life of every living being on this Earth can be easily explained by saying that there are two parts: the spiritual and the carnal. The spiritual encompasses all that we cannot see, feel and touch with  our physical senses. The physical is very different as it all that we can feel and understand with our basic and primal senses.

In the search for truth and life, there is only one that can bring us to that reality. The reading for this week is Romans 8:6, which explains:

For to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

- Romans 8:6

When Paul says that to be carnally minded is death, it’s a clear statement. The things that the body tells us to do will lead us to destruction. Following what “feels-good” now is tantamount to choosing destruction later. Yet, the spiritually minded one finds life and peace, for they choose to follow the Father and His commands before all other things, including  the carnal desires within  us all.

What’s even more telling in this situation is the fact that it is a choice, amongst other things. We get to choose everyday whether we follow our carnal desires or whether we fulfill what is spiritually good. Every choice counts in the eyes of Yahweh, for every choice is the difference between salvation and damnation.

Associated Bible Verses: Galatians 6:8, Psalms 119, Romans 7:11

Think About It: Is my mind one that focuses on carnal things or on spiritual ones? What choices do I make everyday that bring me closer to salvation? What choices do I make everyday that bring me closer to damnation? What can I do to avoid the choices that bring me closer to destruction?

Prayer: This week, pray so that the Father can change your mind and renew it. May He be the one who talks to you and presents you with His grace. I pray that your mind be spiritual and carnal, so that you may find life and peace.

House of the Lord

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in His temple.

Second_Temple (1).jpg

Some things seemingly lose their meaning over time: a picture, an old home, even a long lost friend. It’s the reality that comes with the ever changing concept of the world around us. There are certain elements that for us that are destroyed due to age and other factors. However, their symbolism and what they mean remain the same, sometimes becoming more powerful than before.

To understand what I mean, allow me to direct you to the verse of the week, which is Psalms 27:4, which reads.

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in His temple.

- Psalm 27:4

For context, David is writing this, knowing that the temple is still in Jerusalem. While that is seemingly no longer the case for us believers, there is a very powerful truth in what he is saying in his psalm. The Father is omnipresent. We can follow His commands and His lifetime at all times and attempt to be in constant communion with Him, for He is Holy.

There is no other place that is worth being if it is not in the presence of the Lord. It’s why believers, those who seek Him in truth and in spirit, search for more than just a church. They seek a house of the Lord, a place of true worship and prayer, so that they can dwell and serve Him with their hearts, souls and minds.

Associated Bible Verses: Psalm 23:6, Psalm 65:4, Psalm 26:8

Think About It: In the places that I worship and pray, are they places that I can say that the Father YHWH resides in? Do I make myself a true home and temple for the Holy Spirit? Do I take the time to contemplate the beauty of the Lord and to enquire in His temple?

Prayer: This week, pray so that you find yourself in His presence at all times. May your home become a home for Him and may you be able to pray in truth and in spirit, to remain in Him and with Him.

Gifts from the Father

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change (James 1:17)

Something in the world is so simple to understand. That thing in question is to be thankful. We teach it to children when they’re young, so that they can understand that as they get older, it’s needed to be polite and a good person.

The verse for this week, James 1:17, is a testimony to that.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change

- James 1:17

If a child, under the age of five, is able to thank their mother or father for the cookie or game that they received, who are we not to do it with the Father?

The Father gives us some of the most beautiful things that we can fathom in this world, from the smallest flower to fresh air. Even the things that our hearts aren't even able to express are gifts from the Father. From children, to love, and even the most disheartening things. We grow in moments of darkness, but we can grow from those moments, when we know that Yeshua - another gift of the Father for He is our road to salvation - is still our light.

Associated Bible Verse: John 3:27, Proverbs 2:6, Ephesians 2:8

Think About It: What are you thankful for? What gift from the Father do you take granted? Do you think you spend enough time thanking the Father for all that He has given to you?

Prayer: This week, focus on the Father. Thank Him for the things that He gives, but most importantly, for His being. That fact that He is there in your life and thinks of you is a blessing that you should thank Him for.

Believing in Yeshua

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7:38)

There is power in the knowledge that comes from knowing who Yeshua is. He is more than just a historical figure, but also a Lord and Savior of His people and those who follow Him in truth and in spirit.

The verse that we will be dissecting and attempting to understand this week comes from the book of John, which states.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

- John 7:38

Believing in Yeshua is more than just accepting Him as your Lord and savior, as it is commonly believed. In fact, there’s more to it. You have to believe in Him just like the Scripture says. We must remember that John writes this and the Gospel hasn’t been written yet, therefore he is referring to the Old Testament.

The one that is filled with the prophecies of the Messiah who will save His people!

We need to know the Old Testament to understand the  greatness and blessing that comes with the person of Yeshua and what it means to us. From that, our bellies will flow rivers of living water, a testament to the goodness that the Father has given us.

Associated Bible Verse: Isaiah 58:11, John 4:14

Think About It: Who is Yeshua to me? Do I base myself on the little that I know, or do I continuously pursue Him and knowledge?

Prayer: This week, pray so that the Lord Yeshua will reveal Himself to you in new and wonderful ways today.

Anxiety

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. (Revelations 21:4)

adult-anxiety-black-and-white-black-and-white.jpg

It happens to even the best of us. That feeling looms; the one where it feels like you don’t know where your life is going or your suffering seems to be too much to bear. The anxiety of it all can seemingly consume you, or anyone you know.

It’s a feeling of doubt that happens, but it isn’t supposed to. The verse that will be the cornerstone of our readings for this week will explain why.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.

- Revelations 21:4

This verse from Revelations is so powerful. It talks about what will happen; this eternity that we are all striving for. It’s within the grasp of everybody who wants to follow YHWH: for He doesn’t want you to be sad. That’s not the life that He planned for you. Do not worry, for He will wipe those tears.

Life with Christ is a life in which you understand what the Father has in store for you. And even when you don’t know, you can always count on Him. In those times where everything seems too tough, we have two things to do: praying and pushing. Pray to the Lord and give Him thanks, for you should have faith that He will deliver you soon. Push through the obstacle that you are going through, not by your own strength, but by His. Keep following His commandments, and He will continue to fortify you.

Your current reality is your eternity. It’s a season - admittedly, it could be a tough one - but nothing is stronger than the Lamb who gave His life to save yours.

Associated Bible Verses: Isaiah 25:8, 1 John 2:17, Romans 8:18

Think About It: How often do you feel as if you are overwhelmed and anxious? Do you turn to the Lord or do you turn to the World when that happens? Do you confide in the Lord and look for support? If not, are you a support for the people around you who go through this?

Prayer: Pray to the Father so that He may remove the anxiety from your life. Feel His presence in your life as he wipes away every tear from your eyes.

Faithful

But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you and keep you from evil. (2 Thesssalonians 3:3)

We consistently hear about how the Lord, Yahweh is faithful. It’s one of the things that people focus on when they go and speak the gospel and proselytize. It’s the truth of the situation. However, the Lord made us as naturally inquisitive creatures, able to reason; wanting to understand more.

Therefore, why is God faithful to us?

Let’s examine this verse from 2 Thessalonians 3:3 understand what this entails and how we get to this.

But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you and keep you from evil.

- 2 Thesssalonians 3:3

Ok, let’s attempt to break down: we understand that the Lord is faithful. From there, he will establish us, put us on firm ground and be our foundation. Finally, we are kept from evil, due to the fact that we are established and far from evil.

But again, how? Why?

The Bible is filled with verses that talk to us about our God being faithful, but just as much with us being faithful to God. The accompanying verses for this week's edition will present to you verses in which being faithful is a two way street. We are to be faithful as God is faithful. And to be faithful, we must be willing to follow his commandments and ways: that’s being faithful to Him. In turn, He loves us and keeps us safe. The reality of 2 Thessalonians 3:3 is what we get when we spend our lives being faithful to God at all times.

Associated Bible Verses: 1 Samuel 12:24, Luke 16:10, Hebrews 10:23, Proverbs 28:10, Psalm 121:7,

Think About It: Are you faithful in your walk with the Lord? Do you count more on God being faithful, or on your own abilities? Do you trust in the Lord to be there for you?

Prayer: This week, take the time to pray so that you can always be faithful in the Lord.

God My Protector

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your Staff, they comfort me. (Psalms 23:4)

What does it mean when someone says that “God is my protector”? It seems like an easy question when one asks themselves these questions, far along in the faith. But it never hurts to go back to the basic questions of your faith, because Yahweh reveals Himself as well in the things we don’t fully acknowledge all the time.

The verse this week, the famous Psalms 23:4, answers the initial question, and we will use it as the basis of our devotional this week.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your Staff, they comfort me.

- Psalms 23:4

The passage of 23:4 holds its own secrets, the first coming from its author. It is well known that the person who wrote this psalm is King David. With that information, it is therefore easy to deduce that he was a warrior, as presented many times in the Bible. The number of enemies he had were many. However, as we see “the valley of shadow of death”, it implies that he also had spiritual enemies. David was a warrior who was outflanked and openly out matched.

But that’s why Yahweh is great.

David knew the God that He served was the God of his forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He knew he could count on Him at all times. This is the God that protected Him and gave him victory over Goliath and Saul. This is a powerful God who fears no evil, therefore, neither should we. He battles for us, surrounds us, even when we think that we are cornered in the valley of the shadow of death.

Associated Bible Verses: Isaiah 41:10, Acts 18:9 - 10, 2 Timothy 4:22

Think About It: What battles do I allow myself to fight, and not Yahweh? Do I fight my own battles for myself, or for God? Who protects me?

Prayer: Pray this week so that you may give yourself to the Lord once more and let Him fight your battles. Focus on the kingdom of God and His presence, so that the rest may happen as the Lord desires it to happen. Present yourself to Him with cheers of victory, for He does not lose.

Confession

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us for our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

people-girl-alone-praying-wall-chapel-royalty-free-thumbnail.jpg

Certain things happen in human history that make us cringe, once we look back upon them. It can sometimes be proof of changes in culture and beliefs. One of the things that make many believers feel this way is the idea of confession. Some still go to their local leaders and confess their sins to them, while others are horrified by the idea.

However, it’s a biblical concept, found in the book of 1 John, which states:

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us for our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

- 1 John 1:9

It is true that we are supposed to confess our sins: it’s written plainly in the Bible. It even alludes to who we are supposed to confess to: Yahweh.

The reasoning behind it is because the only person who can forgive us for our sins and transgressions is Yahweh. It’s Him who can cleanse us of our unrighteousness and justify us. There is no man that was given that power, for that power is the difference between life and death. In fact, the Word even curses anyone who attempts to take that spot, that of being confided to, in Jeremiah 17:5.

He knows all and sees all, understands you and wants you to be able to live in righteousness. That requires you to confess to Him what you’ve done and truly repent. It exceeded asking for forgiveness, as you are seeking to change your way of life so you no longer fall to that sin. It’s what Yeshua told the adulterous woman in John 8:11. Go and sin no more.

Associated Bible Verses: Psalm 32:5, Proverbs 28:13, Psalm 51:2-5

Think About It: Do you have difficulty confessing or with the idea of it? Is confessing something you’ve already done in prayer? Do you have sins that you have difficulty with? If you’ve never confessed your sins, why is that?

Prayer: Take the time this week to confess your sins to the Lord. Pray so that you can change your ways and be righteous like He wants you to be. Repent for your wrongdoings.

Cares of my Heart

When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. (Psalm 94:19)

There are times when we feel down and out. It’s not pleasant. The feeling of uneasiness and uncertainty - it affects many of us and you are not alone. In fact, for that, the Lord gave us a resource that we can all access for these times: His word. We can access it whenever we want and read what He has prepared for us today.

The reading of the week focuses a bit on that, being Psalm 94:19, that says

When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.

- Psalm 94:19

The problems of this world are many: taxes, sickness and everything of the sort. But the Word of God was made to be a refuge for us believers. Whenever our hearts are heavy, we should always be able to turn to Him and confess our issues to Him and to confide in Him. It is when we confide in Him that we find solace.

Why?

The easy answer remains that it is because Yahweh is the God who created all things. Yet, the deeper and far more intimate answer is the one of love. The Mighty God of Israel loves those who follow His commandments and does not let their enemies defeat them. Take solace in the fact that because you love Him with your entire being, that He will love you and defend you in your moments of darkness.

Associated Bible Verses: Psalm 61:2; Psalm 77:2 - 10; Habakkuk 3:16-18

Think About It: What problems do I have in my life right now? Do I present my problems to Yahweh? Who is bigger: Yahweh or my problem?

Prayer: This week, confide in the Lord. As you confide in Him, praise Him for his goodness and His love, for you are not alone in your situation. Sing for Him and leave your problems at the door, for He remains by your side.

The Spirit Given

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timid, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7)

sky-paloma-bird-ave.jpg

There are some foundational elements to the faith that every believer should have. The baptism by the Holy Spirit is something that Yeshua talks about, notably in the book of Acts, saying “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Paul elaborates on the person of the Holy Spirit, saying:

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timid, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

- 2 Timothy 1:7

That, our verse of the week, found in 2 Timothy 1:7, is telling in many dimensions.

The first dimension is what Yahweh hasn’t given to those who praise Him and worship Him in truth. He did not give us fear or timidity: therefore, why should we believers be any of those things, when faced with anything? When you follow His commandments, through the power of the Holy Spirit and out of love for Him, your confidence should reside in Him alone. He will handle all things. There is no more crying for the crumbs of blessings passed; there is confidence and praise.

The second thing is what the Holy Spirit is. The person of the Holy Spirit is powerful, loving and gives us discipline. He teaches, reminds and instructs so that the believers do not fall to the sins of the past. It’s through that Spirit that we are able to receive repentance and access true change in our lives here. It’s through the seal of the Holy Spirit that we receive eternal life. Who are we to be disappointed, afraid and sad, when we have such a loving God who sends us His Spirit?

Associated Bible Verses: Micah 3:8, Romans 8:15, Acts 10:38

Think About It: What does the Holy Spirit mean to me in my life? Do I sometimes find myself in fear when I shouldn’t? Do I walk in the confidence of the Lord or in timidity? Where does my faith fail and my fear rise; if so, how do I counter that? Which verses can I use?

Prayer: This week, be open with the Lord about your fears and concerns. Lay them down to Him and confide yourself in Him. Praise Him for what He has done and will do with them, for He is a great God. Pray so that the Spirit within you is not a spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit.

Condemnation

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)

feature-image.jpg

The Bible is the most printed and distributed book in the world; this has been a constant since the creation of the Gutenberg Printing Press. Thanks to that, more people than ever have access to the Word of God. It has also led to many misinterpretations of biblical verses and biblical truth. As believers and truth-seekers, it is important for us to really narrow these down and get to the root of what Yahweh wants to tell us in these verses.

The verse this week is that of Romans 8:1, which states

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

- Romans 8:1

The World and teachers would have you believe that it is a bible verse that says that we are no longer under the law and that it has been abolished. That isn’t true and has been examined in Bible 101. However, what is true is that we are no longer under the law, but in accordance to it if you follow it out of love for Christ.

What this Bible tries to show us is that condemnation isn’t for those who are in Christ. Those who are in Christ are in the truth and in the ways of the Lord as He prescribed them. Those who follow this way of life that Yahweh prescribed are no longer walking in the flesh, but in the Spirit, knowing that the grace of God has given them an access to Him, through His son Yeshua.

We apply this in our everyday lives in the way that we conduct ourselves, as people who are righteous and who look out for one another in love and peace.

Associated Bible Verses: John 3:18 -19, John 5:24, John 15:4

Think About It: Am I convicted by this? Am I living in condemnation, or am I walking in freedom? Do I belong to the body of Christ or do I not? Do I walk after the flesh or after the Spirit?

Prayer: This week, pray to Yahweh and take the time to praise Him for giving you the grace and opportunity to read His word and His message. Allow Him to convict you; show you that if you are within Christ, that you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit. Find the time to be in tune with His son Yeshua.

Those Who Stray Away

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned - every one - to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:6)

3263247802_607da76cfa_b.jpg

The analogy of the sheep. It’s used countless times in the Bible to teach and to inform the reader of what they should be as believers. Within this concept, there is the ability to follow, obedience and true, unyielding faith. A sheep is supposed to do all those things and so does the believer that is called a sheep.

However, the verse this week presents a very different reality:

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned - every one - to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

- Isaiah 53:6

The prophet Isaiah is open about the sheep that have gone astray, an allusion to say that the children of Israel aren’t listening to Yahweh. This can be indicative of human nature, which makes us unable to follow the commandments and the precepts of the Lord without the Holy Spirit. To add to this, all of the sheep are going their own ways, following their own beliefs. It sounds familiar.

Don’t disregard the Old Testament: take it as God’s word as well and also as prophecy. Today, there are countless people who have turned away from Yahweh to accept humanism and other religions. It hurts to know that, yes, but we must follow the Lord and hold steadfast to Him. Even through the trials and tribulations that come from that reality - which is spoken about in the verse  - we must continue to pray for those who have gone astray. We must continue to pray.

Associated Bible Verses: 1 Peter 2:25, Psalm 119:176, James 5:20

Think About It: How do I stray away from the path that Yahweh has laid out for me? How do I stray away and how can I stop doing that? Am I the type of sheep who listens to the Good Shepherd or no, if so than why? Do I take the time to pray for those who go astray, or do my prayers remain about myself?

Prayer: This week, pray so that you may not be the sheep that continue to stray away from the Good Shepherd. Take some time during the week to pray for the children of Israel and the believers who continue to stray as well, so that they may return to the Lord and to His plans for them. Seek the Lord’s pastures, commandments and ways so that you may never stray away from them again.

Saved from Slavery

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery (Galatians 5:1)

Many people talk about the fact that Christ saved them. It’s one of the main things that believers say all the time. However, what stands as an interesting fact is that many don’t really say what we are saved from. Yes, it is simple to say “sin”, but it goes deeper than that.

The entirety can be examined through the lens of the following verse - which is also our verse for the week:

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery

- Galatians 5:1

Sin is an easy answer to give us what we are saved from, but it’s the question of what sin associates you to. Someone who sins and who transgresses God’s laws and commandments are associated with the enemy. It’s the simple truth. Those who follow the Lord, Yahweh, in his precepts and concepts and love Him have found eternal life in Yeshua.

When He died for your sins, as well as mine, He opened the access for us all to be able to be with Yahweh on a more personal level. He ripped the shroud of the temple, allowing for the most holy of holy places in the Temple to be accessible. This is representative of what Christ has done for us. He is the way to that Holy place of communion with the Lord. In fact, it’s by accepting Him and what He did for you and accepting His love and help that we are able to live freely, out of the shackles of slavery that the enemy had for us. We are saved from sin, but mainly of the slavery of the enemy.

Associated Bible Verses: Corinthians 3:17, Isaiah 61:1, 1 Peter 2:16

Think About It: What sin has been holding me back from clinging onto Christ? Where in my life do I fall? How has Christ saved me from slavery?

Prayer: This week, focus on the Lord. Focus on the fact that He has saved you from sin and from the clutches of the enemy and slavery. Pray for those who are still in bondage and who still need to hear the Word of God. Praise Him for what He has done in your life and what He will do for others as well.

The Feast of Booths (Part II)

The entire assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and lived in them. The sons of Israel had indeed not done so from the days of Joshua the son of Nun to that day. And there was great rejoicing. He read from the book of the law of God daily, from the first day to the last day. And they celebrated the feast seven days, and on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance. (Nehemiah 8:17 - 18)

Let us rejoice, for the Feast of Tabernacle is here!

The Feast of Tabernacle stands as being the last of the Feasts of the Lord. It marks many things, notably the end, but also as a time to rejoice. Every single one of the Feasts of the Lord are important and there are many things that we believers can learn from them through living them.

Last week, we started analyzing the verse of Nehemiah 8:17- 18, which says

The entire assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and lived in them. The sons of Israel had indeed not done so from the days of Joshua the son of Nun to that day. And there was great rejoicing. He read from the book of the law of God daily, from the first day to the last day. And they celebrated the feast seven days, and on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance.

- Nehemiah 8:17 - 18

Some may ask why didn’t I touch on the actual feast in the previous article. There’s a reason for that. I needed to set a precedent; to present that it is easy to return to the Lord and to celebrate His feasts, even if you have never done it before or it seems foreign to you. This, like the Isrealites of old. You need to listen to His commands, it’s one of the major elements of every feast.

What Nehemiah 8:17 - 18 is referring to as the Feast of Booths is the Feast talked about in Leviticus 23:33 - 43. It’s a remembrance of the era when Israel lived in tents. This is done after they taken the crops so all the work is done. During the seventh feast, they took a moment of rest. Remind you of anything?

This feast is a celebration of everything they’ve been able to accomplish with God, hence why it’s a feast of joy. They were to present themselves on the Lord with joy and food offerings. We, as believers, are called to present ourselves to the Lord with joy, disregarding ou r troubles because Yahweh will handle it.

Associated Bible Verses: Ezra 3:4, 2 Chronicles 7:8 - 10, Hebrews 11:9, Leviticus 23:33 - 43

Think About It: Have I taken the time to listen to the commandments of the Lord? Do I follow Him in faith, love and in truth? How do I follow Him? Do I come to His feasts joyfully?

Prayer: This week, pray so that you may live the Feast of Tabernacles like the Lord has envisioned it and commanded it. Consecrate time for His presence, to praise and worship Him and His holy name.

The Feast of Booths

And they celebrated the feast seven days, and on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance. (Nehemiah 8:17 - 18)

Let us rejoice, for the Feast of Tabernacle is almost here!

The Feast of Tabernacle stands as being the last of the Feasts of the Lord. It marks many things, notably the end, but also as a time to rejoice. Every single one of the Feasts of the Lord are important and there are many things that we believers can learn from them through living them.

For the next two weeks, we will be analyzing the following verse, as it holds many things that we need to unpack, to understand the Feast of Tabernacles.

General understanding of the Bible tends to forget many of the events that occur after the death of Solomon and the arrival of Yeshua. To be brief, under the rule of Roboam, the country is split into the Southern Tribes of Judah and Benjamin, while the rest would become the Northern tribes. The people of Israel would soon be dispersed, sent away to many foreign lands. The full twelve tribes of Israel haven’t all returned to Israel ever since. This happened because they did not follow the commandments.

However, some would trickle and return, thanks to the Grace of the Lord. Hence, the verse for this week. The children of Israel were respecting the Feasts of the Lord once again in this verse, something they hadn’t done since the days of Joshua. They focused on Yahweh and His commandments for the entirety of the Feast, just as He commanded them.

We will continue to dive into this verse and what it means for the Feast of Tabernacles during next week’s article.

Associated Bible Verses: Ezra 3:4, 2 Chronicles 7:8 - 10, Hebrews 11:9, Leviticus 23:33 - 43

Think About It: Have I taken the time to listen ot the commandments of the Lord? Do I follow Him in faith, love and in truth? What can I learn from the story of Nehemiah that I can apply in my life and in the lives of the people around me? Do I focus on Yahweh like I should?

Prayer: This week, pray so that you may live the Feast of Tabernacles like the Lord has envisioned it and commanded it. Consecrate time for His presence, to praise and worship Him and His holy name.
